Since 1992, Oradea annually celebrates the city anniversary on the 12th of October, marking two major events in its history:
● on October 12, 1918, in the house of Dr. Aurel Lazăr, the Declaration of Independence of the Romanians in Transylvania is signed, and afterwards read at the Great National Assembly in Alba Iulia on December 1st, 1918;
● on October 12, 1944, Oradea was liberated by the Romanian armies, only a few days before the liberation of the last Romanian city - Carei.
Oradea celebrates these historical moments with festive decorations, a wreath-laying ceremony, while the historical centre echoes with joy and Romanian music.
Happy Anniversary, Oradea!
